The In-Room Guest Hub: A Digital Compendium
Same cards, same platform, a different front door. A tap on the card beside the bed opens a digital compendium — everything the paper folder used to hold, kept current from your phone, plus the tools a paper folder never had: a private feedback panel that tells you about a problem while the guest is still there to put right, and a book-direct tile that brings your next booking home instead of through an OTA.
Where the cards go
- 1 Bedside table WiFi, house rules, emergency numbers and checkout — the must-see tiles.
- 2 Bathroom mirror Spa, amenities and toiletry requests.
- 3 Breakfast room The breakfast menu and serving times.
- 4 Reception desk The full hub — reviews, local guide and extend-your-stay.
- 5 Entrance or car park Directions and shuttle or taxi requests.
What guests can tap
Switch on the tiles your property needs. Most change rarely, so there is almost nothing to maintain once it is live.

What one direct booking is worth
Booking platforms take roughly 15% of a booking on average. Every returning guest who books direct through the hub instead keeps that commission with you. On a two-night stay:
- R640 a night ≈ R192 kept
- R1,100 a night ≈ R330 kept
- R1,634 a night ≈ R490 kept
At around R1,100 a night, about one and a half direct bookings a month covers the Guesthouse fee. Illustrative figures — the saving depends on your rates and on guests actually booking direct, which the discount-code tracking shows you.

Common Questions
How does a Google Review NFC card work?
The card contains a small NFC chip programmed with a direct link to your Google Business Profile review page. When a customer taps their phone against the card, their phone opens that link automatically — no app required, no typing, no searching for your business on Google first.
Do customers need to download an app to use it?
No. NFC tap-to-review cards work with the NFC reader already built into modern iPhones and Android phones. The customer simply taps and their browser opens the review page directly.
How long does setup take?
Once we have your Google Business Profile link, your card is programmed and ready within 24–48 hours.
Can I use this card for more than just Google Reviews?
The Google Review card is deliberately kept to one job — one direct link to your review page. If you want a single tap to open your menu, WhatsApp, socials, website and review link together, that is Tap Menu: see the restaurant packages or the guesthouse and hotel packages further down this page.
Can you come to my business and install the cards for me?
Yes. IT-Support-SA is an IT support company, so a technician can travel to your premises anywhere in South Africa, agree the placement with you, fit the cards at the till, reception or counter, tap-test every card on both an iPhone and an Android handset in the spot it will actually live, and brief your staff on asking for the review. Franchise and multi-branch businesses get each site visited, with every card pointed at that location’s own Google Business Profile. Travel outside Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Ladysmith and Johannesburg is quoted separately, and where a visit is impractical we program, test and courier the cards ready to use with a WhatsApp walkthrough.
Do you offer NFC for guesthouses, lodges and hotels?
Yes. Tap Menu for hospitality puts a card beside every bed that opens an in-room guest hub — WiFi, house rules, emergency numbers, checkout, the breakfast menu, housekeeping requests, a local area guide, a private feedback panel, review prompts and a book-direct tile. Packages are priced by room count, from a Guesthouse package for up to 6 rooms to a Hotel package for up to 40, with resorts and groups quoted individually.
Are the Tap Menu prices fixed?
No — every Tap Menu figure on this page is an approximate starting price. Your actual quote depends on your menu size or room count, how many cards and stands you need, and how much content we write for you. We confirm the price in writing before any work begins. The Google Review card prices of R299, R1,349 and R2,499 are fixed.
Can you make a TripAdvisor review card?
Yes. A card can be programmed with any review link, including your TripAdvisor page. A card opens one address, so if you want guests to see Google and TripAdvisor side by side, the guest hub in our hospitality packages shows both buttons on one page. Guests need a free TripAdvisor account to post.
What is a digital compendium?
A digital compendium is the guest information folder — WiFi, house rules, checkout, breakfast times, local tips — kept online instead of printed. Our hospitality packages build one for your property and open it with a tap on a card beside the bed, so you can update it from your phone without reprinting anything.
Do you set up NFC menus in Pietermaritzburg, Durban and across KZN?
Yes. IT-Support-SA is based in Pietermaritzburg and sets up NFC digital menus for restaurants and takeaways in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, the KZN Midlands and across South Africa, including on-site installation and a WhatsApp ordering option on the Orders package.
Are NFC tags and review cards safe?
Yes, when they are set up properly. A review or menu tag is a passive chip that holds only a web address, so it cannot carry a virus or a payment card number. The real risks are an unprotected tag being rewritten, a fake tag stuck over yours, or the domain behind it lapsing. Every tag we program is password-protected against rewriting and points at an address you control, so you can change the destination without touching the tag.
What is included in the price?
Each price includes a durable, drop-resistant NFC card and full setup of your Google review tap link — programmed and tested on iPhone and Android before it reaches you. On-site installation and staff briefing are available anywhere in South Africa, with travel and courier costs quoted separately based on your location.
